Why can’t your site find a VIN for a 1960′s vehicle ? Everything is geared for a 17 didgit Vin. Mine is only 13 didgit.
    Thanks for your time.

Hello Ralph. The VIN Decoder and Vehicle History Reports only work for post 1981 vehicles. Anything before 1980 would not have any sort of online-record, unfortunately.

    Hi..

I have failed to find info on a car I’m trying to buy..It’s VIN has yielded only one result from countless attempts.. I keep getting a message about the number not being valid.. What could be the causes of this? I’ve even entered it in the tab above to no avail.. The only ‘luck’ I’ve had is on one site that wants me to fork out some money to get the full report.. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I ran a check on my Fusion with this vin # 3FAHP07Z68R221798. It claims I have a manual transmission, but it’s an automatic. No big deal I guess. Before I bought the car, I searched the internet used car lots and a lot of them claim their automatic Fusions to have a manual transmission. Maybe they don’t realize there has to be a clutch pedal first! Thanks for the free search.

Hello Ron. Yes, we apologize but it seems that the manufacturer has supplied inaccurate information regarding the decoding of the VIN. We’re researching issues like this and are hoping to have a 100% accurate VIN Decoder available by summer :)

Hi.. Seems I mixed up the letters.. It’s WDB and not WBD.. So the correct VIN is WDB2030642F090784.. It’s an argonite blue 2002 Mercedes Benz c320..

Interesting… Your Check Digit should be a according to the manufacturer, however, according to this wikipedia article, that shouldn’t matter… Sorry but I’m stumped. Have you tried taking it to a Mercedes Dealership to get the VIN checked?
